Caption: During the mid-90’s, Cobourg, Ontario’s long closed Canadian Pacific Express & Transport regional freight warehouse building still stood as part of the railway scene situated along the Belleville Subdivision almost frozen in time. It was located across from the interchange tracks with CN’s parallel Kingston Subdivision where the lone boxcar is pictured. Eventually it was slated for demolition by CP, however in 1996, it was purchased by a company named Legacy. Over time, they fully repaired and revived the neglected building and adjoining property into a thriving building materials and antique collectables business. Today it serves as Legacy Vintage’s warehouse, while the small yard beside the original CP express building has since been removed.

The transfer track, running off the main at the tall switch on the left, used to be worked often by the “Cobourg Turn”. It was disconnected from the main track before I retired in 2010. I recall this because they only pulled out the switch to the first rail joints, leaving a tripping hazard in the form of the butt ends of the rails on the remaining track.
Thanks for the information Ron.
