Early February. Usually the bleakest and coldest days of the year. And today, Feb 11th, was no exception. Because it was my day off I wandered up to Guelph Jct in hopes of seeing something of interest. The early morning GO sets from the Jct were on their daily routine; and I caught this one from just where Campbellville Rd crosses to enter the village on the north side of the tracks. Dull mornings like this played havoc with us film guys........I am actually shooting this wide open at a 30th of a second; and surprised it is not more blurred than it is. I like the fact the headlights are cutting thru the mist in the air.
The connection to 'history' is that no longer do GO engines begin their service from the Jct., having been relocated to Milton some years ago. GO 523 was sold to RB Leasing in Montreal back in 2009.

  1. Go Trains – the thing we shot at the junction when waiting for CP’s.

So what’s in the background Mr. Mooney? Probably a nice pre GE CP eastbound???

I was going through my shots in 2004.. when CP was getting the first AC4400′s and half the trains I shot had non GE’s for leaders.

1992 would have been almost GE free.

  2. My notes show that right after the GO I witnessed CP 4715, 4742 and 4569 east. After that, a Triple Crown. Then #500, 505 and 504. After that, drove back to Aldershot for #72. It was so busy back then.
