From a vantage point on the property of now the former Schneider's Meat plant in Ayr, this image location has undergone a major change since I shot this . Not so much that STLH has now been absorbed back into CP after being a spin-off in 1996, but the fact the huge grain silo building in the background, the former Niagara Grain & Feed; was demolished in late 2015. Nothing there now. Interesting trackside props are disappearing, one by one. For the record, behind STLH (now CP) 5560 is CP 6000.

  1. Neat shot. It’s unfortunate many elevators are coming down. They really add to photos.

  2. The same thing is happening to there location in Smithville Niagara Feed and Grain is now part of Masterfeeds. Alot of of these Mills are disappearing to new bigger Mills like the one in wallenstein. Nice pic AW

  3. They pulled the building down since we were up there last? I guess more housing will be built. Listen to them grumble about trains at all hours of the day and night.

  4. I noticed the building gone when passing thru in early December. The angle looks bleak without it. I forgot to mention the guy with the white vehicle across the road showed up right ahead of the train. Of course I thought, “Oh!! Something special!!”. But no. I guess he was just enjoying the day as was I.

  5. Yep, she’s gone. Not much rail activity on the Pit spur these days either, but there is still one customer at least.
