In the early years of VIA, gloriously mixed passenger train consists from CN and CP origins were common, and by seeking elevated camera perches, catching a complete train was one of my goals. On the east side of the Thompson River at Basque, CN and CP ran parallel for a short distance, allowing interchange connections that were handy during detours for track outages. On Sunday 1980-05-25, train No. 1 was on the CP mainline, powered by CP 1425 and VIA 1965 and VIA 1418.

  1. Thats nice, Ken. I miss the days of trying to attain what look to be unattainable heights. :o ) And succeeding.
    No more, though.
