Caption: It had been a few years since I last caught the Spray Train,and it certainly has become an annual event to photograph it, usually never leaving any railfan disappointed. But, only if you miss it.
This year, marked the first time since I last photographed it, with an old D&H painted engine, leading the way. This year, almost ended in disappointment, as I left my initial spot to photograph it, and see if it was coming. Only did I see the headlights rushing at me at the old Bloomfield Road crossing, did I get caught out of position.
The mad dash across Chatham was on. Bets were against me as one red traffic light proved to feel like forever, before I could proceed. The gates started coming down, and the best I could manage was hopping out nearly last minute at the Adelaide / King Street intersection. Thankfully, sun angle wasn't an issue as the train steadily pounded across the street, passing what once was the old station grounds.
Freshly painted in the new CPKC livery, 6222 looked great steadily pacing the spray train at approx. 70 km/hr. through Chatham.There's nothing like the thrill of a hunt...!

First time I saw the new scheme I wasn’t overly impressed, but it has started to grow on me.
Maybe because the units are clean…..yeah, thats it!!
Hey Arnold, I felt the same way back when CP started painting their engines in the “SL & H’ livery. But, it grew on ya….and a clean engine is like a clean yet classic car…it’ll get noticed!

Southern Ontario really got screwed over this year. 6222 led from Montreal to Cartier, and then they pulled it off and put 5766, an action red SD40-2 in the lead for everyone else.
