I've been appreciating some of the F unit photos posted here recently. For example, Lance's photos of CN F units out west - and Bruce's VIA F's in the Chatham area - and Doug's shots of Wabash/N&W/NYC/PC F's -  so let's continue the F unit parade. Anyone care to join in? 
2015 was peak foam on the Ontario Southland Railway - Plow extras ran frequently in Winter, 6508 was painted by summer, and the F's were put together on a few occasions to the delight of cameras. When I heard that all three covered wagons were together, I quickly burned a vacation day to spend it in the Woodstock area. Peak OSR foam in 2015? Dare I say I expect OSR to outdo themselves in the not too distant future? The Salford Surprises just keep on coming so plan your visit soon. For now, let's reminisce to what was now more than two years ago as OSR switched Woodstock yard before departing west for CAMI. In the foreground is the CPR Galt sub, and the MOW shed (which used to house speeders) at left.

  2. Excellent, 3 together out getting the days work done. This is a picture that will be well appreciated as the years go by. You’d be kicking yourself in the pants if you hadn’t taken the day to go train chasing. :-)

  4. Hmmmmm….taken on a Monday…musta been “on assignment” again :)

  5. I regret nothing Lance :) I’ve also spent time on OSR in the last month looking to catch the GP7′s in action and was handsomely rewarded.

    The GP7′s are the oldest active in the OSR fleet and just as nice. You really can’t go wrong when visiting the OSR.

  6. Just checked my own upload of these three beasts and it was taken a full week after your shot. So we did have our opportunities!

    Yes I recall it happening a few times, but 1400 had compressor issues and was out of service a lot until later in 2015, 6508 went in for paint, and after emerging in September the trio were together again, briefly.
