Making one last trip south to the Galt Sub to grab a couple last minute loads for Orangeville before the Holiday Shutdown, GMTX 333 approaches King st East while running through the farmlands of Caledon on-approach to the major city of Brampton with only one empty tanker car in tow this fine Christmas Eve morning. When today’s train reaches Snelgrove however, they’ll make a brief stop at the run-around track just north of Mayfeild rd as the ITP Armacell Plant in the northern end of Brampton just south of Sandalwood also had a empty hopper ready to be returned to CP and since their switch faces north, 333 will first have to drop the lone tanker car at the run-around and then run light power for about a mile into the Armacell Plant before taking the empty hopper back to Snelgrove and adding it onto today’s southbound train which has now doubled to 2 empties. Timing is 09:05

  1. Nice work Graydon!

  2. Thank you Jay and all the best to you and your family in the 2020s decade! Hopefully railfanning will continue to bring us good! Will be interesting to see if the OBRY line makes it to the end of the 2020s but hey, only time will tell! The Orangeville Customers seem to really quite value their rail service ????
Especially being that as confirmed to me by Steve Bradley at the Bayview meet, it was those exact 4 which saved the line almost 2 decades ago and they still stand today!

  3. Oops I tired to add the smiley face emoji where the ???? are but for some reason it didn’t quite work, my bad

  4. I sure hope that the OBRY holds strong in the future… It would certainly be sad to see it go.

    Great catch!

  5. Thank you Dan and I sure would agree! If only the line still ran to Owensound tho… know that town quite well myself as that’s where my grandparents on both sides live. My dad’s dad was quite interested in trains himself especially this line which is why every so often he still joins me for a chase from Orangeville and my mom’s dad actually spent a good chunk of his career working at the RBW plant in Owensound which was indeed a loyal box-car customer to the CP line back in the day.
