Caption: My copy of “Signatures in Steel” got a good work out early on. A number of images from Goderich over the years within the book always kept thevtown in the back of my mind and on my list of places to visit. Sadly by the time I made it to Goderich Canadian Pacific had already left town, leaving its pretty station near the beech with no rails. Thankfully Goderich Exeter took over the former CN line and still served the lakeside town today. The arrival of A pair of former Railink FP9’s brought a lot of fanfare yo the town for the first decade of the 2000’s. Unfortunately GEXR crews were not fond of using the pair in the lead position especially in their later years. Any chance of catching them in the lead was worth a full chase. This day I only caught up with them in Goderich but made the most of any photo possibilities as they headed to the harbour with a pretty interesting four axle consist. The track to the left serves what is left of the towns grain elevators, while the track to the right serves the salt mine.
