Caption: On CN’s Cowan subdivision between Dauphin and Swan River in Manitoba, there was a depot at Elthelbert at mileage 29.9, as built in 1898 by Canadian Northern Railway and shown here on Saturday 1976-10-02 looking northward. That is the Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Greek Othordox Church in the background, very handy many years later for me to determine the precise original location of that depot, which has been relocated to 27 km north of Winnipegosis to be a private residence. To date, I have been unable to locate it on Google aerial views.
Ethelbert is reported as named for Ethel and Bertha, daughters of railway contractor William Mackenzie.
