Only another few weeks, and, without a reversal by our seemingly two-faced government, the 'tour of the line' AC passengers will be no longer, as cancellation of government subsidies will pull the financial rug out from under what is considered a vital transportation link for those involved in communities along the way. It was a glorious spring day when I caught this southbound, led by AC 1756 and 1761, rolling by the old Frater station. I suspect the last runs, scheduled end of March 2014, will be crowded with rail fans mourning the passing of this popular train.

  1. The train will now be making it’s final runs at the end of April, just before peak season…

  2. THANKS for this info, Mr. MoFo:o) Perhaps it will give some of us a chance to make a trip up before the train is history. Hopefully, it will be saved. Trouble is, despite all the mileage, there are very few ‘votes’ living along the line………

  3. Sad to see it go, miss seeing the Fs only caught them in freight service as WCs GP40s took over passenger service by the time I made it up to the SOO

  4. I wish I had seen them in freight service on the ACR line, Marcus, and I am disappointed that I was unable to find more time to wander the area. But it is a long way to go to see what little there was left. I did catch those Fs working on the Keokuk Jct Rwy in Illinois, though. T’was a lucky break. I didn’t even know they were there!! :o )

  5. September 2018. You should post a picture of them in Iowa since most of us won’t get to see them. That is, of course, if you can find them.
