Some years ago the CP Britt station was outdated and replaced with one of those dull modular type structures. I went in to check on the situation on my way back from 'up north' and saw the old and new, side by side at Britt Station. So figured the next time I went by, I would see the old station demolished.
However in June 2023 on my way in, which is Station Rd. off the Hwy69/400, lo and behold there is the station sitting rather forlorn out in a field. So it lives on. It is about a half mile from where it once earned its keep; and now I guess just used for storage.
And it looks like it is outliving its usefulness here as well. I stopped in October 2026 and there was so much junk and brush against and around it that I didn't even attempt to take a photo. So its days are severely numbered.

  1. Glad you captured it, post-railroad usefulness. Kinda reminds me of a few stations I photographed. Relocated with good intentions, only to rot away (CN Granton, CP West Monkton, etc.) Too bad too. This could’ve been repurposed quite nicely.

  2. Thanks, Todd. The building was in a perfect location to make a nice home. However, I doubt that was ever the intent, since no foundation was constructed (that I could see) to ensure the old station had much of a future.
All I could see were supports to keep it level.

  3. You’re welcome. Too bad it couldn’t be a museum to this area. Seems like a good tourist spot to go to (mind you, I’m looking at the satellite view on Google Maps – never been to Britt to experience the area in real life!).

  4. The station building definitely had the potential to be restored at one time. Coincidentally last week I was tempted to turn off Hwy 69 and view the current state of the station but decided to stay pointed north.
