Something different you do not see any more......unless perhaps you are one of those aficionados that enjoys outings on your own personal machine.
Speeders were once common as track patrol vehicles, and I used to see this one regularly along the Dundas. I don't know where he set out from but assume he went as far as Bayview and then returned. Brantford? Anyway, here is CN 15268 rolling west past the old Canada Crushed Stone conveyor structure around mile 4.4 on the Dundas. The track remains, of course, but the rest of the scene is history.

  1. Great shot of the track patrol crew at work.
CN 152-68 is a 1976 built Fairmont track motor car.
This unit is equipped with an Onan CCKB 20 hp 2-cylinder gasoline powered engine coupled to a 2-speed fully reversing transmission with a chain drive to the rear axle.

  2. I knew you would come thru, Paul. Thanks for this.

  3. Always nice to see a Work Equipment shot from you Arnold. :-)
This is a tough car to positively i.d.
While it is clearly a 2-man track patrol crew at work, the running number CN 152-68 puts it in the 4-6-man section track motor car category.
Seeing as the occupants are sitting high and slightly sideways, I believe this to be a Fairmont CK7 or MT14 motor car.
