The leaves on the trees at Forks of the Credit are slowly beginning to change as GMTX 333 is seen rounding one of the many curves on this line with its bi-weekly load of empties from Orangeville for CP. Photo was taken just north of the well known Forks of the Credit Trestle bridge (which the train is about to go over) and from Forks of the Credit Road. Time is 09:54

  1. A favourite spot more than 40 years ago. It’s sure grown in now. There didn’t used to be a curb to destroy tires and suspensions when running the Forks of The Credit road.

  2. Very nice Graydon.

  3. Thanks for the comments guys and very interesting stuff cdntrainphotog, you are definitely right about this being a favorite spot! Hopefully some day we’ll see some photos on here of CP down here at the Forks of the Credit from the 70s, 80, and 90s!

Fun fact, I actually chased this train was my grandfather Don Johnston that morning who is from Owensound ON and he himself has fond memories of the line back when it ran all the way up there. He quoted to me several times that when he was a teen in the late 50s early 60s, he remembers taking the passenger train up this line from Toronto to Owensound quite well and being very amazed himself of all the sights here at Forks of the Credit!
Too bad the Credit Valley Explorer shows no sign of returning.. .
