Caption: The old CN station in Mount Albert was along the Bala sub just across from Hwy 48 that went by the town. The first time I stopped there, maybe in 1976; it was abandoned. Doors open, ransacked by vandals and the curious. Passing by again in early 1978, it was a surprise to see the place all bordered up. I thought it was going to be moved locally for a residence, perhaps. But no. This station, built by the Canadian Northern in 1906; was to become a player in a new Cannington Historical Society museum in MacLeod Park, in that town. I understand the park opened in 1978, so the move must have taken place not long after this photo was taken. It now sports a "Cannington" namesign on it; a bit misleading perhaps, but it fits in as part of a Cannington historical display, and I doubt many question it.

Great photo, Mr. Mooney. We almost bumped into each other. I took a picture of the station on the truck. I always wondered where it ended up. Thanks for solving the mystery!
I look at that place and I keep thinking “what a house”!! But then I think of all stations in that regard………except the modern ones.
