Caption: The Windsor and Hantsport Railway (WHRC) was a 56-mile (90.1 km) railway that operated in Nova Scotia between Windsor Junction, which was located north of Bedford and New Minas. Also, at Windsor there was a spur that ran several miles east serving two gypsum quarries located at Wentworth Creek and Mantua. WHRC had officially suspended operations in fall 2011 after the gypsum quarries closed.
In better times, WHRC RS23 8027 is photographed at Windsor, Nova Scotia by the shortline’s engine shop. It was one of the last active RS23’s that still retained a multi-mark and it was built as CP 8027 in September 1959.
