This little old wooden station is a survivor. Built in 1877, it served CP in its last years of operation. The CPR pulled out of Atlantic Canada completely by 1993, but I am not sure when it left Grand Falls. But long before.
The building was designated a 'Historical Place' in March of 2006. It is situated at roughly the corner of (Rue) Portage Street and (Rue) Chappell West Street. The former right of way is now the Sentier Trail.

  1. Grand Falls is a cute little town, i went there to view the total solar eclipse a couple of years ago, we had a beautiful view over the falls and canyon! Surprisingly, that little station still stands today, atleast, it did 2 years ago. Although it is now in very rough shape… Hopefully they will take care of it before it crumbles down to the ground…

  2. Thanks, Ian: I’ll get around to posting a shot of the CN station in town; but I think that one came down about 10 years ago. I honestly thought they were going to restore this old CP building since it was deemed “historical”. Whats the point in making a fuss about it if you’re only going to let it disintegrate? Glad you wrote, but disappointed to hear the station is still being neglected.

  3. This would make the perfect starter home or business for someone! I have to share Ian’s sentiments about hope that someone will take care of it before it’s gone.
