Caption: This might be the most attention that Trail BC has ever received on Railpics haha. With 2 other posts already up, I figured I'd add my own photo of modern day. The Kootenay Valley Railway "hotshot" is on the last leg of its 330 mile journey from Golden BC to Trail BC as it glides over the Stoney Creek trestle in the neighbourhood of Tadanac at a calm 10mph. The KVR is an internal shortline that CP has which picks up the wayfreight at McConnell yard in Kitchener BC and takes it round trip to Trail. Once in Trail, they change ends, become CP A18, and set off eastbound to Golden. The entire trip takes 3 days, and runs daily so there are always 3 sets of EMDs running around in the Kootenay Valley region of Southern BC. A18 this day was led by SD40-2 CP 6042, with CP 5003, and CP 2302 trailing. By the way, the hotshot nickname was given to the train ironically as they never reach speeds above 15mph on the KVR.
