This old engine sat on the siding for months prior. Each time I passed it going to the local indoor pool with the kids, I wished I had my camera. This time, due to the chase of local freight CN 514, i had it! And boy am I glad i did.

From fellow contributor Luke Bellefleur, using information posted on the site "Old Time Trains": Thompsons # nil in new paint scheme and window protectors. Acq. 2/2013 ex Bucyrus-Erie 8302 South Milwaukee, WI nee Normetal Mining # nil. 80-ton GE 28481 10/1946.

With it boarded up, I knew time wasn't on my side. Next day after this photo, the engine was loaded onto a flatbed truck and hauled away. To where? Not exactly sure, but the next morning my boss came into work quite excited. Tells me his story:"You'll never guess what I did, I followed an engine all the way home!" Last known sighting was just inside the sleepy city limits of Kent Bridge, Ontario. Destination still unknown to this contributor.

  1. Most interesting report, Todd. I saw this unit on Feb. 28th and kinda hoped it would still be there for a better shot…..but I guess not.

  2. Well, it may be re-locating somewhere else Arnold! Just have to wait and see where it ultimately ends up
