Two friends and I went out in March 2004 to the Ingersoll/Woodstock area for trains, one of my favourite spots: CN and CP are close by along with NS 327/8. Plus you had the frame train, an afternoon favourite as they would usually come during the afternoon lull. Imagine our surprise when the Frame Train is getting a clearance on the CPR St. Thomas sub from the RTC then they say "Proceed from Mile 0.7 to East Siding Switch Beachville, clear main track".... clear main track? The frame train? For what? Let's go.... We didn't have to go too far and with TK12 coming back from CAMI with a long cut of cars, the Frame Train had to take the siding as they would fit. From what I recall meets here were very rare and I'd only have heard of it on two or three occasions in this era basically per year. Photo notes: Scanned (by Jacob) from a print and originally on Fuji Provia film. It was this outing and the next one in Sudbury later that month that basically pushed me to get a DSLR in a couple weeks time and never look back.
Bonus: Here's us watching it all unfold by David Graham: here and a Video of the meet too. These were the days.... and for the most part this line was basically ignored by most - this was every day stuff.

  1. 1505 is also a rare (even then) CP GP7u, not a gp9, built in 1953. CP only had 17 of them and some were gone by the time this photo was taken.

  2. All CP in action red too…those were the days indeed.

  3. Love the air horn on the Frame Train in that video link. K3H?
