Caption: A few times, when I had the ambition, I parked at the old Dundas station (in the far background) and walked over to the Canada Crushed Stone conveyor overhang high above the CN mainline at mile 4 and watched for trains. It was unsafe and stupid, but I survived to tell of it. When VIA 6513 came along, I knew of the engine number from a long way off. That flesh coloured nose gave it away. I loved the view from up there. Another nice spot was on the left side where the curve begins; the bare hillside gave a great view of everything heading westbound, and quite a few images from that location I have posted. My overhead lookout was removed in 1993, bringing that era of photographic stupidity to a close.

So essentially, you latched onto an idea that any of the rest of us would have if we’d had the opportunity. I’m trying to picture 3 MLW’s coming through that curve with 392′s train…..you best check deeper into that slide collection!!
I can remember the water pipe / spring right about where the last coach is, great spot to have a sip of water and wait for a train, during my walks to the station. Also at the same spot there was a SPS (station protect signal) that could give a good indication of a west bound train approaching. I only ventured once into the conveyor belt structure, the belt was running as well as rotten wood flooring, it was scary so I never went back in.
Thats right!!! The drinking hole! I’m quite sure that was a water pipe. Another ‘source’ of water like that was half way up the hill along Hwy 8 in the background. It finally because a nuisance to travelers on account people trying to stop and fill their buckets; and now I guess it is sealed off somehow.
The flooring in that conveyor belt structure was scary, all right. But I just had to try it.
