Caption: I was out for a walk on this nice, crisp Fall night and was heading home when I passed by the GO station and saw what I thought was a pretty photogenic scene even if it was just an MP40 providing the subject. I don't live all that far from the GO Station so I went home and got my camera and returned to do some nights shots. This area is fenced off so I didn't even bother to bring my tripod as I didn't think it would be of much use given the fence, and instead used the chain link fence itself to stabilize the camera. While I was shooting, someone showed up and fired 661 up, which is why the cab is lit up in this shot.

Didn’t there used to be the Toronto Hamilton and Buffalo sin in the stonework of the station?
Haven’t been past there in years.
Not visible in the shot but certainly still on multiple sides of the building. Take a gander on Google street view
Perfect lighting… nicely done!
Nice James. Just by the shot I know you’re in Hamilton!
Very nice, James.
Thank you all!
I’m not normally into GO train shots but this is a good’n. Can’t you just walk to the platform and shoot them? How often is the GO train servicing West Harbour? THere was talks of another station near Parkside before Stoney Creek.
Thanks Brad.
No, the platform is locked and not accessible outside of the times the trains are running. Trains only run on weekdays and it’s four out in the morning and four back in the late afternoon/evening. I suppose I could get there for the 0548 train on weekday mornings, but I’d rather not be up that early. That and there’d be blurry people in the shot no doubt when doing a long exposure like this during the morning rush hour.
You’d have to check the GO schedules for West Harbour. I believe they recently changed.
Great night shot James.
Love night shots.
That’s a sweet one. The lit up cab is the cherry on top.
