From high up on that slag heap (mine tailings) that overlooks the CP-CN diamond and the town of Coniston; I caught this westbound from North Bay. Great location for train watching.....and best, very few mosquitos.
Scenery is a bit barren but a great view. With the demise of the track from Mattawa down to Ottawa, no major freights can be seen along this line any more. Today this is Ottawa Valley RR (G&W) track.
Power seen is CP 5843, MKCX (Morrison-Knudsen) 9055 and HATX 922. The train is crossing Hwy 17 far in the distance.

  1. Interesting..I did not remember having open top multi levels still operating that late in the 90′s . Cool

  2. Cool lashup!

  3. I miss coniston. Visited a couple times, got a OVR 431 here with a pair of SD’s.

  4. Dunno what it is like up there now, Mr Host. I get to wondering if the area is restricted. Maybe someone from the area can clue us in.
