Getting toward sundown......VIA 6139 and 6205 waiting for departure time of 1905 at the modern Truro transportation centre. My assumptions usually don't hold much water, but I still am assuming this is #602 and on the way to Halifax. Buddcars seemed to be the rail passenger mainstay in the Maritimes back then. To me, they are still the logical ideal for low cost operation.

  1. Great image Arnold! Rode the RDC from North Sydney to Truro and return a few weeks later in Sept/Oct 1988 and loved it. My understanding that at the time of the 1990 cancellation, it was the most heavily patronized of VIA’s regional routes anywhere in the country.

  2. Ken; it seems if the image has a passenger train in it, memories of yours are bound to be rekindled. :o )
    But thanks!!!

  3. If I remember Truro correctly, this train would be outbound from Halifax on the way to Sydney.

  4. I’m batting 1.000 !!! Another wrong assumption !!!!
