In 1992, CP began leasing several GATX SD40-2’s painted in both blue and yellow from GATX Capital Corporation. They were leased by the railway for several years and were eventually re-lettered as GSCX. Once CP was done leasing them, many were sent back to the US to continue their leasing duties on other roads. 

Here GATX 7372 is pictured at CP’s Toronto yard diesel shop awaiting its next assignment. This unit started out as Missouri Pacific 3193 in March 1975.

  1. GEXR had a few as well between 2010-2013 if I recall correctly.

  2. Yes they did Kevin. I’m not sure if they were part of the group leased by CP at this time but they could have been.
