After a very dry winter in Ontario, an early spring snowfall provided a nice change for photography. In the south end of Barrie, the lone GP9 of the Barrie Collingwood Railway is seen lifting a car from TAG Environmental, which will join another car from Comet Chemical destined for the CPKC at Utopia. The change in the weather had the train slowly following a foreman throughout the day, who was cleaning switches along the line.

  1. Very nice, always enjoyable to see an original GP9 still in regular operation, especially this one with such nice paint. This is truly “modern day” branch line railroading at its best, so little of it left in Ontario compared to the 1950’s. Well done, thanks for sharing, John
