Surprisingly long VIA train #72 about to pass under the railfans Walkbridge at Bayview East with three LRC units, 6916, 6920, 6926 and a steam jenny. Did we have a combination here? Did the earlier #70 die enroute? Never did find out, but it made for a great photo-op.

  1. This rocks Mr Mooney! Awesome shot, very cool :)

  2. Wow Arnold, you sure have some good luck! Amazing shot!

  3. That’s pretty cool Arnold. I never saw two LRCs together, let alone three. Now, how about an encore?

  4. An encore?? HAH!!! I didn’t even get to visit the storage line when they were all pulled from service. :o (

  5. It’s ok – I didn’t even get a LRC on camera. 6917 will by my LRC opportunity once it gets operating – which is why I think the THRA LRC restoration project deserves our support. (Great work btw, guys – a big fan right here!)

Photos like this make me appreciate the LRC more and more – thanks Arnold :)

  6. Neat train Arnold.

  7. WOW – the LRC’s look great, back to back! Incredible image Arnold. I recall lamenting the steady parade of LRC’s throughout the 1980′s as the FPA4′s faded from the scene. Given the number of heavy weight cars trailing I’m surprised that there is only one steam generator’s in the consist.

  8. You were in the right place at the right time Arnold. Awesome shot.

  9. Great photo. I don’t think I have ever seen LRC’s run together like that in my 35 years on the railroad. Also interesting to see the baggage car pulling up there rear. Most of the time they are right behind the units.

  10. What a great capture Mr. Mooney! I was fortunate to ride an LRC train from Toronto to Montreal in October 1988.

  11. Thanks. Having fun looking at old pics again, are you? I’ve never been on a Toronto-Montreal train. You certainly get around. Good Times!!

  12. My fiance and i were heading back to Newfoundland following a month exploring Canada by rail. We rode the Atlantic, the Canadian, the Super Continental and the Ocrean as well as RDCs in Cape Breton and two corridor trains. One was only an F-Unit with two coaches and the other an LRC. Beauty, eh?

  13. Wow!! I daresay you found the right lady, too!!

  14. Right you are Mr. Mooney! I proposed in the dining car near Revelstoke and this June (please God) we celebrate our 30th! Thank goodness she loves train travel as much as I (twice across Canada, trips throughout various parts of the US as well a over the UK and continental Europe several times).

  15. Oh Geez, Kenneth….a fairy-tale life complete with train travel. Wonderful !!
