Long ago silliness. Spotted this while wandering on my first regular day off work in 1977. The switcher in the background was likely working Waxmans (scrapper) which is in the background on the right. This is where the Stoney Creek WalMart is located today. The track veering off to the right was once the beginning of the CN Beach sub. It was reduced to a stub in the early 70s when the infamous Stoney Creek (QEW) traffic circle was removed. The Beach Sub at the time was elevated over that circle and ran to a connection with the CN Oakville sub just a hair east of the old Freeman Station by Brant St in Burlington.

  1. You shouldn’t deface other people’s property like that….

  2. Never heard of the place. Is this near Rocky River ??

  3. Hamilton Ontario

  4. Is that a station in the background?

  5. No. Not sure what it is.

  6. Was this snakes hideout as a kid???

  7. Are you suggesting there is a slight odour about him? HAHAHAHA….:o)

  8. I was here today – had to visit the nearby establishment prior to a family gathering. Amazing how this has changed. I photographed a train here once.. and it’s not a half bad photo, I shall post it some day – photo’s from 2006 before they changed the character of it with the underpass project around 2012 or so..

  9. I believe this is where the small station once stood. I believe it became decommissioned around 1970, gone by the time you took your photo Arnold.

I believe it was on Paul Duncan’s website, Niagararails.com he has an index of Ontario stations, with photos from various contributors. One posted was the shell of a station…likely before demolition. There is another photo, and any one of you might’ve seen it in Ian Wilson’s series, STEAM AT HAMILTON. Shows it in better days.
