CP 8205 has just crossed diagonally thru the intersection of Victoria Av and Bridge St in Niagara Falls with traffic for CN. The transfer originated from the old Montrose Yard down by Chippawa.
In this view Bridge St is off to the far right; the St. Patrick's Catholic Church steeple is visible in the background, and that is the old Kimberly Clark plant on the left.
I have no idea why the old line car, (converted from a caboose) from the London & Port Stanley Railway ended up in Niagara Falls. But there it sat for a number of years, waiting for vandals to torch it. And, as you can see, they did.
As you know, now there is no longer CP presence in Niagara (outside of Chippawa) and NF yard is no longer as well.and CP 8205 became STLH 8205, then retired in 2014. All gone.

  1. Hence why photography is important. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Really cool Arnold! When all the GP9′s went for scrap the company scrapping them sold the numberboards and I actually ended up with one of the 8250 boards.

  3. SOLD the numberboards? Really?? Now there is an outfit with an idea to make some money and preserve some history. Good purchase. And the longer you have it, the more you will appreciate it. Unless a wife gets hold of it :o ) Then it might become a weapon.

  4. Joe: a bunch of the later retirees managed to escape the scrapper. CP 8250 lives on on the Potomac Eagle Scenic RR today.
