Caption: On an Easter weekend more than thirty years ago now, a colorful consist waits to depart CP’s Toronto Yard diesel shop tracks. The unit’s included; VIA Rail F40PH-2 6457, HLCX GP40-3 4407, C-424 4227 and M-636 4721. At the time, CP Rail was leasing nine F40PH-2’s from VIA Rail to assist with their motive power shortage. They were mainly used on local jobs as well as mainline 900 series trains that stayed within the province. HLCX 4407 was ex-HLCX 654, ex-Amtrak 654, ex-Kyle Railroad 3116, ex-Conrail 3083 and nee-PC/NYC 3083.
