While waiting for a CN westbound by Old Guelph Road near Hamilton West, at Mile 1 of the Dundas Subdivision, we heard a CP ballast train departing Hamilton on the scanner. With the late September evening light slowly starting to fade, we decided to photograph it nearby from where we were as much of the Hamilton Subdivision would already be shadowed in.

Here CP GP9u 8200 and SOO Line SD40-2 6608 lead a northbound ballast train around the curve approaching the over/under with the Dundas Subdivision. The power had just crossed the bridge over the QEW as evidenced by the large telephone poles in the background.

  1. Correction- Light Poles- Not telephone poles!

  2. That certainly is a bit of a tricky spot.

  3. Very nice

  4. Thanks Arnold and Steve.

Yup Arnold it certainly was. I was much more adventurous in my younger days.
