Caption: Recently Mr Mooney submitted a shot ( http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=58055 ) of some former NBSR SD40's awaiting their fate under the Main St overpass in North Bay, a few months later I stumbled across them being cut up on one of the AIM Recycling tracks (formerly Ferne Piche & Sons) just off the Temagami sub by the old CN diamond/Dysktra bypass track North of Old Callendar road.
From near to far:
3000 was built as CP SD40 5522 in 10/1966, sold to HLCX and upgraded to -2 electronics around 1999.
3001 was built as QNSL SD40 219 in 6/1971, sold to HLCX and upgraded to -2 electronics around 2000.
3002 was built as SP SD40 8448 in 9/1966, rebuilt as SD40R 7326 in 10/1980.
3004 was built as UP SD40 3021 in 3/1966, upgraded to SD40-2 in 8/1991 before being rebuilt as an SD40M-2 in 3/1994.

So thats where they went. Thanks for the info and posting, Detective MuskokaMoFo!! Good closure.
That’s a very sad sight to see…
Can we confirm the frames didn’t survive? The only reason I ask is one of these locomotives was sent for a TP130 conversion to Tractive Power Corp and in this case, they only want the frames and trucks and some of the cab to do a conversion.
This will be the first, when completed for the one sent down to the states.
