Three GP40-2L(W) as they were designated back in the late 1970s appeared to be everywhere. This image shows a westbound with CN 9557, 9633 and 9596 rolling over Hwy 403 about to climb Copetown Hill. It is early November, a great time to be wandering when the sun is still warm and the bugs have called it a year.
The problem I have with this location is: Is it Burlington? Hamilton? Dundas? Flamborough? I gave it the location of Hamilton West because the railroad name sign is just out of sight by the CN boxcar seen back in the train.

  1. I’d say the train is still in Hamilton, once it crosses Hwy 403 it will be into Dundas. It appears to be coming off The Cowpath?

  2. Thanks, Terry. That whole area keeps me guessing as to proper location; which is why, for sake of argument; I just refer to it as Bayivew, Hamilton West, Mile 1 Dundas, etc.

  3. You definitely have the location identified correctly as Hamilton West.

  4. I see what you mean – so in a few seconds the train would be in pre-amalgamation Dundas, and Hamilton, and Burlington all at the same time.

  5. Great photo Arnold. I wish I shot more here back in the day.
