Third time around. I realize I posted a shot of this train in 2012 and 2017, but, after going thru old photos and finding another shot of interest; not quite the same as the one from 11 years ago; but close, I thought this scene was worthy of another look.
I was caught totally by surprise. I'm on the hillside at Hamilton West waiting for whatever CN had to offer. Down the CP line comes a GO train !!! And it kept coming !! To say the least, I was flabbergasted. Apparently, the story was that perhaps a minor incident of sorts on CP around Streetsville temporarily shut down the GALT sub. GO, which was based at Guelph Jct back then, elected to detour its trains over CN Oakville to be ready for the afternoon runs out of Toronto. I am under the assumption buses were eventually supplied for people going in to work that morning and the trains would be ready to take them back home. There are only 4 trainsets in this image, and I understood there were 5 sets based Guelph Jct. Hmmmm ??
Needless to say, this will never be repeated, which makes it worthy to post for those who were not on RP all those years back.
