And to think there were water towers everywhere along the railroads at one time. Even the old section shacks and phone boxes are a rarity these days.
A surprising number of octagonal concrete water tower bases survive, well worth snooping around likely spots, probably not worth the work to remove them unless the area is needed for something else.
Last trip I made was a couple years ago now, but here in deep SW Ontario, a full concrete base still stood at Bothwell Station, on the Windsor Sub.
