About Bill Purdy
I reside in Puslinch. I have been a long time rail fan but a very recent "attempted photographer". I can be found around mile 43 on Galt sub almost everyday. It was there I met fellow rail fans Bill Clarke, Arnold Mooney and Brian. Bill became ill so I took my camera one day just to send him photos of the CP line. I got hooked. Bill Clarke passed on but now another Bill carries on a long tradition of rail fans at mile 43.

![Hitching a ride on CN 422, the Iron Ore Company of Canada's BMEX 520, is making the return trip from Brookville Equipment in Falls Creek Junction Pennsylvania after its repairs had been completed. The electric train was one of only 9 ever built. The fall colors and the nice clean paint make for a nice contrast to the dull skies overhead.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/IMG_5430-3-200x150.jpg)

![I had been staking this spot out for a few weeks, waiting for the sumacs to glow and the leaves to change and of course, something other than the usual dirty CP leader. Today, most of it came to be. Our friends at CP finally put SD70ACu, heritage engine CP 7016 on the nose. All decked out in its block lettered paint scheme, the former CP 9140 leads CP 8140 out of Campbellville south down the Hamilton sub on its way for a stop at Kinnear Yard. Even the sun gods aided as the clouds parted just before its arrival.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/IMG_1207-3-200x150.jpg)

![It wasn't the best of days when this shot was taken. Light rain, cloudy and overcast and the crew weren't to sure if the old GMD1, CN 1408 would have the power to pull this load up the grade after putting their train together at Edinburgh Road with the wet rails. They did make it as this photo shows as the approach Aberdeen Street. They would continue to worth the yard for several more hours.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/IMG_3955-4-200x150.jpg)

![The CWR train rumbles through the light rain with a touch of sun poking out as it rumbles south down the Hamilton sub passing the Wildhagen greenhouse on the Milburough town line with a very nice CP 5957 leading CP 6055. The SD40-2's are always a welcome sight especially when our friends at CP clean them up.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/IMG_0753-3-200x150.jpg)

![All decked out in its NATO green, CP 7020 with CP 8642 make their way east down the Galt sub for a meet with CP 137 at Guelph Junction. This was the last of the Military Units I needed to get on the lead so I was quite happy when the sun came out.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/IMG_0407-2-200x150.jpg)

![I originally went to Guelph Junction in hopes of getting 2T69 and H88 in a side by side but alas, it never happened. Around the bend comes Huron and Eastern 3510 (GEXR job) rolling towards me. All I could think about at the time is for it not to make me miss the original train I went for. It rolled on by and slowly backed to this location to hook up two more cars for H88. I could see 2T69 coming and hoped the shadows wouldn't get in the way and the GEXR job be far enough back. CP 5012 with CSX 5218 roll by on their westward trip up the Galt sub. I did manage the side by side but I think this one is even better.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/IMG_0288-3-200x150.jpg)

![While waiting for CP 528 with my grandson, several CP trucks pulled up to do some signal investigations. The three gentleman were exceptionally nice and my grandson received a few goodies from them. One of them was a nice foam CP engine which he proudly holds up in one arm as he waves from the other. The crewman returns the favour to him as CN 3876 with CP 8200 roar by the 7th Concession in Puslinch.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/IMG_9495-2-200x150.jpg)

![It's taken a few years to finally get my grandson to get out of the vehicle to see a train because he loves the trains but is not very fond of the noise. Today, he brought his own camera and told me "I'm a big boy now and want to take my own pictures." He usually wears his ear muffs so its not so noisy but said he didn't need them at this spot because they don't honk, so off we went to get a pumpkin. Here, BNSF 7107 running solo with 62 total axels, passes mile 43.3 headed east down the Galt sub. His picture actually turned out well for a first attempt at something moving but he was sure the next time he did need his earmuffs.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/IMG_8588-2-200x150.jpg)

![I had know this CP 234 was making its way eastward as a solo BNSF 4739 but was thinking, as usual, it will terminate before it gets here. I was doing a bit of yard work when a got a message that it had arrived at Galt so I headed off to this close spot to catch it figuring I had plenty of time. I parked the truck and got out to the sound of a horn at Victoria Road so I raced through the grass and barely got in to position for this shot. UP 7467 was added to the power to make this even better. The tracker is a great thing but sometimes its off by a bit and can give us all fits.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/IMG_8192-2-200x150.jpg)

![With the weed spraying season beginning soon, here's a shot of last years spray train. SD40-2, CP 6043 heads back eastward passing the old Galt train station on its way to Guelph Junction where it will work the 'Y' then head south down the Hamilton sub. Word has it this years spray train should draw some attention as well.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/IMG_0692-3-200x150.jpg)

![I was returning home and went by the Guelph version of Guelph Junction and found CN 540 working near Alma Street so I decided to try and make it to this location before its departure from there. Turns out I had plenty of time to beat it. The pair of GP38-2's in CN 7521 with CN 4726 rumble up to Wellington Road 32 on their way to Kitchener.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/IMG_7599-2-200x150.jpg)

![It has been a while that I can remember since I've saw a double CP lash up with no dirty red in it but today I have. Bright orange CP 8781 dressed up in its Hapag Lloyd colors with CP Heritage unit CP 7015, (former CP 9126) slowly roll west up the Galt sub on the approach to Victoria Road.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/IMG_6668-2-200x150.jpg)

![It's a beautiful sunny day and Canadian Pacific gave us a very nice train to shoot. BNSF 4418 with CP 6255, CP 3053 and a mid dpu CP 9683 power a very late CP 141 up to the Victoria Road crossing as they head west up the Galt sub.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_5651-2-200x150.jpg)

![After missing this train on Tuesday, CP 7010 (former CP 9153) made the trip again today so I got lucky. It was just a matter of battling the overhead clouds and hoping for some sun. Here it rumbles past the Campbellville sign on its way south down the Hamilton sub approaching the 3rd line crossing. It's nice to see the SD70 Acu's leading once again.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/IMG_5471-2-200x150.jpg)

![It's later in the morning and T69 is sent early to pick up a load at Guelph Junction. The leader was the common CP 3053 east but the clearance back west drew my attention as CP 4447 so off I went. Here it about to cross Victoria Road in Puslinch with 168 axels and 2520 feet of manifest cleared right to London so it could begin its usual pickups that day. The fresh slow is still blowing off the hopper cars at builds to track speed.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/IMG_5058-2-200x150.jpg)

![I had actually went to Guelph Junction to get a shot of CP 234 and CP 147 and found the power of T69 sitting idling away in the siding. After CP 234 departed, CP 147 led by BNSF 6558 and CP 7042 flew by at full track speed which made for a very nice side by side with the CP 3053. T69 would sit there all weekend and eventually the second unit froze up and CP 3053 would be very low on fuel but they still managed to make it westward on Monday.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/IMG_4723-2-200x150.jpg)

![This Union Pacific 8871 engine had quite the time the last few days. It ran light power eastward yesterday to rescue CP 255 at Guelph Junction and led back west later that day to quite the crowd of railfans. It then ran back east and south down the Hamilton sub for a pick up over night. Today was its return trip as 2T69 where it led the original power for CP 254/255 in CP 8704 and CP 8077 back west with 6800 feet of auto racks.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/IMG_4840-3-200x150.jpg)
