![The holiday Monday presented me with my first opportunity to get some shots of 580 heading down the Hagersville Sub. Today, they worked Brantford Yard and took eight boxcars over to the appliance place, then came back and grabbed 13 centrebeams and three hoppers for CGC. Unlike SOR, they did not take their time heading down the Hagersville Sub. I did however manage to catch them in Cainsville, Caledonia, and Hagersville. Given my post yesterday was an elevator shot, I am going to stick with that theme. Here, 580 is rolling past the elevators in Hagersville before they run around their train to head to CGC.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_6495_edited2-200x150.jpg)

![No trip down to Blenheim for 514 yesterday, which was a bit of a letdown. But nonetheless, this is still one of my favourite railfanning excursions to make. Here, during a break in the downpours, 514 is lifting empties and setting off fertilizer loads at Agris in Thamesville.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_6382-200x150.jpg)

![This was a byproduct of chasing an X597 from Garnet to Paris. I personally quite like SD70M-2s; not really sure what the general consensus is though.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_2179-copy-200x150.jpg)

![Went out this morning before work to see what I could find. Ended up catching 421 on its way through Parkdale Yard with a rather enjoyable lashup (SD75I and SD40-2W trailing). Saw 422 not long after. Neither had high cubes today, which was a bit disappointing for me!](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_6292-200x150.jpg)

![I had the Friday before the Canada Day long weekend off and figured I'd head out that morning to catch some trains. Waited in the crippling heat for some time to catch 421 going through Parkdale Yard and afterwards decided to check out what was going on in the industrial area. Sure enough, saw the gates dropping on Kenilworth with CP working Adams Yard and was able to get some shots there. Didn't stick around long with the heat being what it was.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3650-200x150.jpg)

![A few minutes after getting the solo GECX unit on 330, I heard RTC talking to 582 in Paris, letting it know that once the eastbound Via was passed it would be getting its light to head back to London. So from Princeton I went over to Blenheim Road, which was my first time shooting at this location.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_6133-200x150.jpg)

![I always marvel at the resilience of plants. June was a dry month, and at times the heat was crippling. Humidex values on this particular day were well into the 40s and it wasn't much better in the days leading up to that. Yet somehow, there is plant life on the end of this old Canadian Wheat Board hopper, which is bringing up the year on the day's 514 as it heads from Blenheim to Chatham up the Sarnia Spur.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3738-200x150.jpg)

![All of this talk about Niagara Region on the site recently made me conclude that it's about time I head down there to check things out. First went to Port Rob and watched a train work the yard there. The power was split off and the crew went to have lunch, so I turned the CP channels on my scanner on in time to hear 246 get clearance to head south from Welland. When I got to the CP tracks east of Brookfield, I quickly realized they weren't in service and had to assume they used the Stamford Sub (this was all new to me - I'm still learning!). Caught them around mile 10.8 on the Stamford, and then shortly after heard CN L562 get clearance to head to Southern Yard.
Got L562 leaving Southern Yard, as they were getting a work order to use the CP Hamilton Sub to head to Feeder Yard. Opened Google Maps again and saw that they'd essentially be doubling back on me, so over to Miller Road I went to shoot them again, this time on the Hamilton Sub.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_6257-200x150.jpg)

![The final RLHH 597 heads through Onondaga towards Brantford and ultimately Paris. I'd wanted to shoot this spot for some time, and it was fitting to finally do so on SOR's last run. Was nice to meet Steve and Glenn out there - looking forward to seeing their shots from this final run too.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/IMG_5898-200x150.jpg)

![QGRY 2500 is literally and figuratively in the depths of Hamilton's industrial area, working along with RLHH 2111 on a hot, sticky, and eventually stormy evening. The two are pictured here working Strathearne Yard. Shortly after, I heard another SOR train get clearance to go down the hole, and waited for them at Irondale where I watched a mighty storm over Burlington. They never did come, as I would see them at Vopak on my way home after the storm hit Hamilton.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/IMG_3816a-200x150.jpg)

![Was out fishing (as Steve calls it) in Hamilton's industrial area and heard CP talking about a diamond. That narrowed it down for me pretty quick so from the far east end where I currently found myself, I first went towards Gage. Seeing nothing, I next went over to the Irondale area in time to find CP laying on the horn to let the staff at MANA know to come open the gates. With a storm looming, I got this shot in what I feel was interesting lighting for the context. They pulled some gons out of there and then back to Kinnear they went. Unfortunately for me, the storm did what storms do and it was raining by the time they got to Main Street.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/IMG_4188-200x150.jpg)
