TERRA TRANSPORT TAIL END. Narrow gauge TerraTransport Caboose 6068 brings up the rear of Extra 926 East (see image 13831) at the Bowring Park pedestrian overpass on the beautiful Sunday afternoon of July 19, 1987. This all-steel caboose was one of five built in 1967 by National Steel Car of Hamilton, Ontario and had all welded construction. It was from a total order of twenty built from 1961 to 1967 in five lots by that company to replace a variety of old wooden cars. Fortunately it survived the shutdown a year later and wound up as a playhouse at the McDonalds Restaurant in Bay Roberts before being moved to the grounds of the Avalon North Wolverines Search and Rescue Unit. In September of 2017 it was bought by rail buff Ken Mercer and moved to his property at Bristol's Hope, Conception Bay and restored to its former glory where it sits today.

  1. Very nice, and certainly different.

  2. Thank you Sir! At the time, we had no idea that there was only a little more than a year left as there were still two daily freights across the 547 mile mainline.
