The CP Canada 150 train arrived in Hamilton much later that anticipated today. It is shown rounding the wye at Main Street. The train didn't back in to Aberdeen Yard as some expected, rather it continued on to Kinnear to stage until the event adjacent to Gage Park in the evening.

  1. Oooooooooh he made it! Excellent – I was talking to your Dad and it didn’t sound like you were going to make it out. This is great!

I don’t mind it was late – so many great angles we can’t often do.. not many Southbounds at that time of day unless 246 is really late..

And it looks like we had it well covered!

  2. I have to hand it to CP – they were certainly thinking of us (I would hope) when they didn’t break up the A-B-A set of Script locomotives and added the 1401 to it..

Why did they just add the 1401 (and not remove one of the others) is what I wonder? Was the HP really needed?

  3. This is a beautiful image. Talk about a special train well covered…..it was like rats in a silo out there today. :o )

  4. Damn that’s nice.

  5. Rob, looks great. I did not see it and looks as if I will not be able to either. Too bad as this is a real blast from the past.

  6. I got FTR shots at Hamilton parked. Police didn’t allow onlookers on the sunny side :( Had to work so missed the action shots :( Steve, I hope you got a shot at Canyon Rd :)

  7. I got lucky with the late-running train and was able to bail out of work at noon. CP put on a great show down at Gage Park this evening. Thank you for the comments.

  8. Great stuff Rob glad you got out and I love this location – a great spot to show off all four units. Indeed Arnold, we were rats in the open silo….

Kevin, I did not want to risk Canyon Rd as I figured the train would be on the south track..

When the train arrived at Hamilton the masses congregated really quickly (about 20 to 30 of us) and the cops, trainmasters, etc were basically telling us they’d allow us to walk over at the Brickyard… once the train was finished moving. Eventually they did allow us, only to be overruled by the Seargent in charge – but we were able to quickly get photos before they closed it off for good.

According to some folks on the C-P-R Yahoo group, the train’s coming back from Ottawa to Toronto on the 28′th (mid to late afternoon on the Belleville) and leaving in the PM up the Mactier on the 29′th after an overnight stay in Toronto (Darkness at Parry Sound though) – Dave you have two more shots at it if you can manage to get out. YMMV (Subject to change)
