Three GMD1's visited the Guelph sub not long after taking over from GEXR and this one only led once - according to Jason Noe it was an IDU issue that had 1412 relegated to the middle most of the time. I've since shot 1412 in Hamilton leading on the N&NW spur but it's yard track down there not the mainline. Seen here at Kent St passing the "street running" - Metrolinx has since fenced everything off in this photo.

  1. I got it leading 555 a few times, so it would’ve led on both the Grimsby Sub and Oakville Sub around here on quite a few occasions.

  2. So maybe it’s fixed. It could come back and lead again.

  3. I’m told on most nights 555 doesn’t exceed 15 mph, so accordingly on most nights it does not require an SBU! So who knows if it’s been fixed or not haha .. the mystery deepens ;)

  4. Wow..the colours in this one contrasting the dreary Winter conditions Steven. Nicely done!

  5. That’s certainly neat you got it leading. That sucks about the fence along the street running.

  6. Really? They put a fence up? That’s terrible for us railfans; probably good for Metrolinx. I’m glad I got GEXR 431 here in good light :) Nice winter scene Steve…I remember this day well; we were on the cusp of a raging blizzard just north of us.

  7. There is fencing parallell and perpendicular to railways at most crossings now. And large no tresspassing signs too. Many angles are now crap.

And yes weather was horrid but I knew this was my chance, I was on way back to work from lunch and I heard rtc giving authority to come out after meeting 85…. thank god for 4×4
