Wandering around the edge of Symington Yard many years ago I felt lucky to capture this GMD SW1200RS in the green and gold; a dress I never did see enough units in. This CN #1354, according to the Trackside Guide, was wrecked in 1983. I wonder how long it kept this gorgeous paint scheme?

  1. Great to see this image Mr. Mooney! As you know, I love that paint scheme!

  2. Pride in the Paint. Thats what it used to be all about.

  3. Not sure about 1354, but there were a bunch out west based out of Edmonton that lasted into at least mid-late 1977 (if not longer) in the old colours: 1344, 1372, 1373, & 1379.

  4. I remember seeing 1387 in Sioux Lookout in May 1978. I also shot GMD1 1040 in Prince Albert in may 1981 and 1063 in Regina in August 1983, both in green and yellow.

  5. This is the proper CNR paint scheme.

  6. You’ve got that right. Just like Tuscan & Grey for the CPR and the Lightning Stripes for the D&H and the War-bonnet for……….well, you know what I mean.
