Here's a hot hazy summer day photo to warm us up. I posted a shot of this train some years ago (back in my wide angle - not sure how to use it - days) but I've pulled out this more standard angle out that I much prefer - a classic TH&B view with some of the Hamilton skyline in view - and now, most if not all of this motive power is no longer on the roster. Boy how good we had it then.. little did I realize most of this would dissapear in a couple short years. I didn't chase this.. I should have - we would chase the piss out of this now.

  1. Great shot Steve…in my “new” hometown :) I can’t believe how quickly this type of power faded away too…what a shame.

  2. Yet CN hangs onto their GP9u’s and GMD1′s!! What a difference in 2 Canadian Class 1′s.

  3. Very nice effort. Perfect morning sun. I agree with Kevin; they were here (in good numbers) and gone tomorrow.
Seems like a long time ago now.

  4. Thank you sir. The GP9′s placement made the shot and I knew it.

This is why I’m not bothered at all when I shoot a CN GP9, GMD1, or any other exotic locomotive long gone from other class 1 rosters. It’ll happen again and we are still awash in great stuff just about anywhere you look on the other railway.

  5. Very colourful mix of SD40-2′s and GP9′s Steve. Yes, if this were today there would be a convoy following that train for sure.
