#999 - 1444 leads the 1400 out of the Bunge (CVO) Bayside lead on a nice April evening, done for the day the crew will grab what remains of their train on the N&NW spur mainline then head back to the yard. Note the Christmas decoration on the top-right silo.

  1. Very nice scene Steve! It’s amazing how much of the “grittiness” is reduced in brilliant sunshine :)

  2. Definitely. Grubby old Hambone actually looks rather appealing in this image. Thats a ‘magical’ shot if I have ever seen one. :o )

  3. Was this shot before 1900h or after? The norm is bayside empties out post 1900h and load in after 2030h

  4. Nicely composed scene Steve.

  5. Thanks guys. It was around that time HomerJay. But they had just put the loads in and the crew went back into the yard after this as I followed for a photo. They also already worked Bunge CVO main yard.

It was fish in a barrel – same place most nights and the light was great so I went down twice in the April/May period last year.

  6. Its a great shot! Yeah like i said they rarely bring the loads with them on the first trip out into the hole. Mostly they are just grabbing empties from Bunge Bay (as required), Vopack and Bunge meal loads going out.

They then take all that plus whatever they stashed behind EOF and go back to the yard and grab the opposites.

It used to be a good 2 hrs before they returned what with having to wait for 331 to finish work at Hamilton.

Made for a long start to night shift at the Big B waiting for them to finish all that not being able to get Blue Thunder rocking and loading cars until after 2200h. Some night wouldnt be finished loading until 4 or 5 AM

  7. Great shot Stephen…well framed! :)

  8. As you can tell in my next shot (1001) thry had a train coming out of the hole. Must have stashed the empties on the main or in the siding before going back to yard. Sometimes they swich with it all and will not get tbe above shot as they have too many cars…
