It is hard to believe that the CN shut down operations in Newfoundland coming up on 32 years ago. In March 1988, the mainline was still running, but so many of the branches had already seen the last train.  The little 800 series G-8's which had plied those rails for so long were now redundant, and as seen in this image, they were slowly being cut up.  A sad sight indeed at the St Johns CN shop.
