If I recall correctly, this train was CP 550, crude oil loads. It was definitely worth the chase from Orrs Lake to Campbellville. During the winter of 2015, the UP 90MACs frequented the area for a short period of time, so you bet I went out the door for this one! I think these engines have either been retired, scrapped, or some rebuilt. I believe a few were rebuilt into the new CP SD70ACUs, numbers 7058 and 7059, but not 100% sure. Also note the damaged locomotive and the ex-StL&H engine, followed by two more UP engines!

  1. I remember that train well, Beauty lash up!

  2. UP still has a bunch of 9043MACs still on their roster, albeit stored. Nice grab!

  3. Well, isn’t that something!!! You’d think the UP-CP merger was in full swing after all. Neat pic. Never heard about this move…….I must have been busy hibernating.
